In assembling our dream team of tutors, we seek out not just technical expertise and experience, but real people— tutors with dynamic personalities who can relate to their students and see them for who they are. An expert is useless without the ability to share what they know, so our tutors are teachers and communicators of the highest order– role models and allies to their students, whether their working relationship lasts a few years or a few weeks.
David has been tutoring students across the New York metropolitan area (and the world) since 2013, with a focus on meeting students where they are and connecting to them as individuals. He invests heavily in his relationships with students, and most loves working with them for years through multiple grades. Indeed, David has seen numerous students from elementary school all the way through to college admissions and beyond. Tutoring is about trust and commitment, and David brings both to every single student, no matter the test, subject, or duration of engagement.
David tutors the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and Regents Exams, as well as the AP English Lit & Lang, Calculus and Gov exams. He also guides students through the college admissions process and teaches college essay writing. As an academic tutor, David works with students in elementary, middle and high school across disciplines on homework help, subject tutoring and executive functioning work. He is equally at home with creative writing as he is with calculus or chemistry, and can help your student get over the hump in that one really brutal class (or a number of them!). He prides himself on his flexibility, and his absolute favorite thing to do is jump between writing, high level math, and a lab report all in one session.
A native of Miami, Florida, David holds an MFA from The Juilliard School and graduated from New York University with a double major in Political Science and Drama. When not tutoring, he is an actor, playwright and screenwriter, as well as a (decent, slow-ish) marathon runner.
David Rosenberg (Founder, Test Prep, Academic Tutoring)
As a veteran test prep tutor, Victoria has worked closely with the SAT and ACT for the past 9 years and the LSAT for the past 3. She loves sharing tests' secrets and tricks with students, viewing each tutoring engagement as a puzzle that we assemble together - culminating in an undeniably prepared mentality on test day.
Over the course of the past near-decade, Victoria have worked with over 150 students with varying academic backgrounds and learning differences. She tailors her approaches specifically to each student's areas of improvement based on what has worked in similar situations. She is also always tinkering with new ways to overcome obstacles to score improvement and will exhaust her resources and tools to get each student what they need.
Victoria found tutoring because it dovetails naturally with her work as a theater director: in both settings, she shepherds people toward a singular goal while identifying which approach works for their psychology, background, interests, and where they are in life. I
Victoria is a graduate of Princeton University, where she complemented her major in English and minor in Urban Studies with classes in neuroscience, economics, public policy, and computer science. She uses this wide array of academic interests to connect with any student's academic inclination.
Victoria Gruenberg (Test Prep)
Jacob brings more than eight years of experience as a tutor and educator, working with students in both one-on-one and classroom settings. Since graduating from college, he has helped students prepare for the SAT and ACT, strengthen their math foundations, and develop confident, effective writing skills. Jacob is known for building strong rapport with his students and takes particular pride in helping them surpass expectations and achieve results they once thought were out of reach. Whether working with students on standardized test strategy, core academics, or confidence-building, Jacob is deeply committed to helping each student recognize their own potential and pursue their goals with clarity and confidence.
A standout student himself, Jacob earned a BFA in Musical Theatre with a minor in Political Science from Texas State University. His exceptional academic performance — including scoring in the 99th percentile on both the SAT and ACT — helped him secure a full-ride scholarship to his dream undergraduate program. He understands firsthand how academic excellence can open doors, and he brings that perspective into every tutoring session.
In addition to his academic work, Jacob is a successful Broadway performer and educator. He has appeared in major productions including Hamilton, Smash, and Once Upon A One More Time, and he is a master teacher of dance and performing arts. Jacob has also served as guest faculty for musical theatre programs at Texas State University and Syracuse University, where he is known for his engaging teaching style and ability to motivate students at the highest levels.
Jacob Burns (Test Prep)
An experienced tutor, especially in the world of test prep, Jake has worked with dozens of students on tests including the SAT, ACT, NY Regents, SHSAT, LSAT, GMAT, and the AP Government and U.S. History Exams, as well as subjects including Geometry, Algebra I and II, English Lit, U.S. History, and World History. After a long career in arts management and education, Jake is now a student at the UCLA School of Law preparing for a career in entertainment law. Jake is originally from Washington, DC, where he developed his passion for teaching as a test prep tutor and a civics buff. Jake is committed to engendering his students with a sense of ease and confidence by cascading concepts inside and between subjects - spurring a momentum of learning for his students that they can carry with them to the test and beyond. He brings a sharp sense of humor and a deep well of empathy, which makes him very popular among his students, many of whom he has worked with for years and years. Having recently completed the law school admissions process, he has a well honed feel for all sides of test prep, and uses this to connect with and motivate his students, who frequently see him as not only a tutor, but a mentor.
Jake Beckhard (Test Prep, LSAT, Humanities, Essay Writing)
Natasha has spent the last four years as an essay coach for a boutique college prep agency for students applying to BFA and conservatory programs. In this role, Natasha helps students zero-in on their own unique voice in order to express their thoughts, core values, and formative experiences. Many of Natasha's students have placed in top colleges across the country. Natasha received her BA from Barnard, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and her MFA from Juilliard. Natasha worked as a writing fellow at both Barnard and Juilliard; as well as working as a copywriter and grant writer. Natasha has secured major grants for both film and theater projects based on the strength of her writing.
Natasha Warner (Essay Writing)
A graduate of Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, Hannah has experience facilitating writing and visual arts practices in academic contexts from the elementary to graduate level. As a Writing Fellow at Brown University, she participated in a semester-long training course, in which she learned strategies for how to guide students towards producing strong, clear, and effective academic writing.
A practicing visual artist and curator, Hannah brings a creative and structured approach to each tutoring relationship. Her goal as an educator is to differentiate instruction to each student’s needs and learning styles, leading to deeper engagement and ensuring that students produce their best academic work. As she helps students with the topic or test they are currently working on, she weaves in organizational, critical thinking, and study skills that will make them stronger, more resilient students for the long term.
When she’s not tutoring, Hannah can be found in the studio or out visiting the swans in Prospect Park.
Hannah Lutz Winkler (Essay Writing)
Albert is an Oxford and NYU graduate with over two decades of tutoring experience. His unusual background, first as an engineer and then as a professional writer, enables him to help students across quantitative and humanities subjects—from calculus and chemistry to literature and creative writing—as well as standardized admissions tests and the college admissions process.
Albert believes in building warm, trusting relationships with his students and their parents. On the SAT and the ACT, this trust lets him go straight for where the fastest gains lie: for some students, that's test-specific technique; for others, that's closing the knowledge gaps that technique won't paper over. He has also developed his own college essay curriculum, which guides students to a standout essay that only they could have written.
His students regularly gain 200–300 points on the SAT. Over the last three years, they have been admitted to, among others, all eight of the Ivies, Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA, MIT, the University of Chicago, and Georgetown.
When Albert isn't tutoring, he's usually found writing. He recently completed a PhD on comedy, and one of his plays was performed in a 1,900-year-old Roman amphitheater. When admissions season isn't in full swing, he also loves going on multi-day hikes.
